Contulting Services

Institutions thrive when vision is matched with structure, and when community voices are carried into the boardroom as clearly as into the gallery. My consulting practice is designed to help museums, archives, and cultural organizations balance those needs—strategic foresight, sound governance, and meaningful public engagement.

With more than twenty years of experience in the heritage field, I bring both big-picture strategy and hands-on expertise. I help organizations refine their direction, strengthen their leadership, and create documents that endure as living tools, not just paperwork.

Core Services

  • Museum, Archives & Public Engagement – exhibit design, interpretive writing, collections management, programming, and community connection

  • Strategic & Organizational Planning – strategic roadmaps, program alignment, resource planning, and leadership support.

  • Policies, Governance & Documents – frameworks, policies, manuals, and job descriptions that ensure accountability and clarity.

  • Grant Writing & Funding Support – persuasive proposals that balance storytelling with measurable outcomes

My Approach

I see planning and governance as collaborative acts—processes that invite participation, build consensus, and strengthen the bond between institution and community. Every document, every policy, should not only meet standards but also inspire confidence and clarity for those who use it.

Whether your board needs a roadmap, your staff needs guidance, or your community needs a stronger voice in your institution’s story, I can help you build structures that last—and strategies that breathe.

Experience & Expertise

Executive Leadership

As Executive Director of the Thunder Bay Museum, I manage strategic planning, policy, governance, fundraising, capital projects, and staff development. I’ve worked extensively with boards, governments, and community partners to build institutions that are accountable, inclusive, and sustainable.

Major Project Management

At the National Museum of the United States Air Force, I served as project manager for the design and construction of its $40M+ 4th Building expansion, coordinating with the US Army Corps of Engineers, contractors, and multiple project teams. I also led the development of major galleries, including Global Reach, Southeast Asia, and the Presidential Gallery, balancing budgets, schedules, artifact logistics, and public interpretation.

Collections & Policy Expertise

I have managed complex and sensitive collections, including nuclear weapons–related materials and firearms, while developing safety policies adopted across the Air Force Heritage Program. My background ensures compliance, security, and best practices in collections care.

Community & Indigenous Engagement

In Canada, my work focuses on establishing meaningful partnerships with First Nations and Métis communities, incorporating diversity, equity, and accessibility into exhibits, collections, and programming.

Teaching & Training

I’ve lectured at Lakehead University, presented at Smithsonian and Canadian Museum Association conferences, and trained museum professionals in collections safety and exhibit development. My workshops focus on practical skills, ethical approaches, and inclusive storytelling.
